Mohammad here! My next science communication production showcases the “Heart Constellation”, a 2021 NUANCE Image Contest finalist by Jack (Bundit) Diloknawarit.

As an outsider to his research, my first step was to talk to him and get an introduction to his work. Our meeting turned into a crash course on, well, a lot of amazing facets of nanoscience and therapeutics. At its core, Jack’s work is about delivering therapeutics to cells that need them, as opposed to flooding the body with medication that is heavy on collateral damage. He works towards this objective by engineering the shape of the nanotherapeutics. The “heart constellation” images a breast cancer cell that has absorbed a group of star-shaped therapeutics delivery units that collectively have formed this heart shape.

First impression: mind blown!
