EVANSTON, IL — The Soft and Hybrid Nanotechnology Experimental Resource (SHyNE) partnered with the International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) to offer tours of the SHyNE facilities and instrumentation. The tours and demonstrations were led by the SHyNE technical staff for INN Symposium participants on Friday, October 7th.

The tour included a walk-though of the Integrated Molecular Structure Education and Research Center (IMSERC) lead by Dr. Andy Ott, Northwestern University Micro/Nano Fabrication Facility (NUFAB), lead by Dr. Nasir Basit, J.B. Cohen XRD Facility lead by Jerry Carsello, Northwestern University Center for Atom Probe Tomography (NUCAPT) lead by Dr. Dieter Isheim, NUANCE’s Electron Probe Instrumentation Center (EPIC) lead by Karl Hagglund, and NUANCE’s Keck Interdisciplinary Surface Science facility (KECK-II) lead by facility manager Dr. Xinqi Chen, and NUANCE’s EPIC/BioCryo Facility & NUANCE’s Scanned Probe Imaging and Development Facility (SPID) lead by Dr. Reiner Bleher and Dr. Chiara Musumeci.

Following the tour, participants had the opportunity to further discuss the SHyNE Resource facilities, instrumentation, access, and training with Ben Meyers, Director of Operations for SHyNE facilities before closing.
